Monash Deep Neuron Tech Day 2025: Showcasing the Future of AI Innovation

17 Oct 2025

XENON SystemsBack to NewsBack to EventsMonash Deep Neuron Tech Day 2025: Showcasing the Future of AI Innovation

XENON Systems was proud to join hundreds of students, researchers and industry leaders at Monash University events celebrating the future of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC) and emerging technologies.

From Monash Deep Neuron Tech Day 2025 to the MAC x MDN x MNET – Tech Futures Expo held at the Airport Lounge, Banquet Hall (Clayton), both events brought together bright minds across Engineering, IT and Computer Science to explore what’s next in AI and industry innovation.

Co-hosted by the Monash Association of Coding (MAC), Monash DeepNeuron (MDN), and Monash Nexus for Emerging Technology (MNET), these gatherings showcased the creativity, technical excellence and collaborative spirit driving Australia’s AI research ecosystem.

As a long-standing provider of high-performance computing, AI infrastructure, and data solutions across ANZ, XENON was proud to contribute to these conversations—highlighting how today’s students and early-career technologists can build tomorrow’s AI-enabled world.

Empowering the AI Community

Across both events, the XENON team connected with students developing projects in neural networks, AI-driven image recognition and data-intensive research workflows—all powered by the kind of scalable, high-performance infrastructure that XENON designs and supports.

It was inspiring to see how emerging engineers and data scientists are using advanced compute platforms to turn ideas into impact. The energy, curiosity and innovation on display reflected the strength of Australia’s AI research community and the growing importance of HPC in accelerating real-world outcomes.

Highlights from the Tech Futures Expo

  • Dr Werner Scholz, XENON CTO and Head of Research and Development, spoke on the Industry Panel
Representing XENON, Werner joined an expert panel discussing the future of AI and high-performance computing in Australia.
    Key themes included:

    • Building scalable AI infrastructure: From single-node GPU workstations to containerised clusters and hybrid cloud, showing how teams can progress from prototyping to production without reinventing their stack.
    • Data pipelines and readiness: Emphasising the role of clean, well-governed datasets and efficient storage architectures as the foundation of successful AI projects.
    • Responsible and efficient compute: Exploring practical ways to optimise for cost, energy, and performance—from right-sizing GPU resources to leveraging mixed precision and scheduling.
    • Careers in AI/HPC: Sharing advice for students on developing hands-on, portfolio-ready skills—working with frameworks, understanding accelerators, and collaborating across data, DevOps and research teams.
  • XENON Stand: Hands-on with Modern AI and Compute
Our team met with students and researchers to demo:

    • GPU-accelerated AI workstations for model development and fine-tuning
    • Scalable storage options for high-throughput data ingest and model training
    • Cluster orchestration approaches (containers, schedulers) for AI workloads
    • Real-time inference and MLOps workflows to take models from lab to production

A huge thank you to Monash University, MAC, MDN, and MNET for hosting such energising events—and to everyone who joined us to explore how technology, research and collaboration are shaping the future of AI.
