Intel® announced this week the addition of new performance optimimised processors to the Xeon® family. These second generation processors offer 36% more performance overall, and 42% more performance per dollar. There are also increases in core count, threads and cache capacity across the range. The new processors are designed for dual and single socket server systems. The addition of more cores and increased cache in these processors make them ideal for workloads where capacity per server is critical.
Intel® also launched two new processors – the Intel® Xeon® Gold 6256 and the 6250. These processors feature the highest processor frequency available, delivering a base of 3.9 GHz and turbo frequency of 4.5 GHz. “The XENON technical team is looking forward to deploying these in our high performance compute servers” stated Werner Scholz, CTO and Head of R&D. “XENON is well known for pushing the boundaries of performance and these new processors will take our servers and HPC cluster solutions even further.”
Xeon® processors are the industry’s most widely deployed processor, with more than 30 million units sold. XENON Systems has been an Intel Premier Technology partner since 1997, and we continue to build unique solutions for high performance workloads on Intel.
