Modular Design Approach
The new enterprise platform consists of Exos and Nytro Ranges
- EXOS AP Series: includes compute in the storage chassis for private cloud, high density use cases and areas where fast input/output data speeds are required. The EXOS AP range is ready for heavy duty high through-put requirements.
- EXOS X Series: these RAID storage systems are ideal for data analytics solutions, data streaming, archiving. The EXOS X range achieves high density as well as high through-put in compact form factor.
- EXOS E Series: JBOD chassis for enterprise and private clouds, big data storage, high performance computing storage, and multi-petabyte storage systems.
- Nytro: All flash and flash intensive systems to drive absolute performance, delivering the highest IOPS at the lowest overall cost.
Modularity comes in how these systems are designed to work together. All components including enclosures, controllers, firmware, and the drives have been developed by Seagate to work seamlessly alone and together with other members of the family. Modular architecture makes components interchangeable between systems, upgrades are simple due to common FRUs, PCMs, controllers and software. The overall design approach has been cost-optimised, reducing maintenance costs and reducing support calls as a result of this modularity.
