Platinum Sponsors
XENON is proud to be the Platinum sponsor with NVIDIA at eResearch NZ, February 11-13 in Christchurch (details and register here). We’re also sponsoring the coffee cart, so stop by, have a cuppa and catch up with the XENON team!
We’re really looking forward to the conference, which is the leading conference for research communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. The conference is a collaboration of NeSI, REANNZ and Genomics Aotearoa with support from the NZ Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment as well as the wider research and science sectors in NZ and Australia.
XENON will be showcasing our full stack solution for eResearch – including compute, networking and storage. We’re pleased to have key strategic partners join us in sponsoring the show and we’ll be showcasing their contributions to eResearch solutions throughout the conference. These partners include:
- Gigabyte – leading manufacturer of servers, GPU servers and storage servers, as well a workstations for scientific research.
- WEKA – the fastest software defined file system for AI and high performance computing.
- Versity – the leading tool for managing large unstructured data archives; with a no-touch migration solution from legacy vendor solutions (eg DMF).
- Netris – infrastructure manager for network automation to create multi-tenanted cloud environments suitable for small and large environments.

The XENON team not only sponsors eResearch NZ, but we are actively sharing our knowledge and experience with the community and have 3 talks in the conference program:
- Learning from Industry Data Science Platforms: A Leapfrog Opportunity for eResearch in Aotearoa, Adrian Torrie. Aotearoa’s eResearch community has a unique opportunity to leapfrog legacy approaches by adopting proven industry practices and tools in modern platforms. This session explores how implementing modern cloud-native approaches can transform research capabilities whilst embedding best practices for data and model governance and drive researcher engagement with self-service tools. Adrian will provide practical examples drawn from industry experience across engineering, data science, platform engineering, and hybrid cloud-native environments.
- Hybrid HPC: can we finally manage our data easily and consistently between on-prem and cloud?, Peter McGonigal and Adrian Torrie. Public cloud use in a hybrid HPC environment remains a challenge: compute is easy, but data access comes with complications. Storage vendors have implemented various approaches to the problem of bursting data to the cloud. Some use global namespaces to stretch the filesystem others use snapshots and others shared repositories. In this talk, Adrian and Peter will explore these different approaches: their strengths, weaknesses and scenarios where they best apply.
- HPC for Quantum Simulation: Challenges and Learnings, Peter McGonigal and Jon Tinberg. This talk will outline how a very fast HPC solution can be built with a small number of nodes to support research into quantum computing.
In addition to the talks, we’ll have some exciting give-aways on the booth, so make sure you stop in and catch up with the team.
