See You in Brisbane: XENON is a Gold Sponsor (with NVIDIA) at eResearch Australasia 2025
15 Sep 2025
XENON Systems is proud to return to eResearch Australasia 2025 – our 10th year in a row as sponsor of this keystone event for the research community. This year in Brisbane, XENON is again a Gold Sponsor alongside our long-standing technology partner, NVIDIA. Also on the stand will be VAST Data and Versity, demonstrating an end-to-end solution to eResearch workflows and data management.
We’re pleased to connect with the research computing community, share practical insights from the field, and highlight the innovation happening across Australia and beyond. You can browse the full conference program here.
What we’re speaking about

CTO & Head of R&D
“Securely Share Your Bare-Metal HPC and AI Cluster without Virtualisation: Modern Multi-tenancy Solutions” by Dr Werner Scholz
Tuesday, 21 Oct, 14:30–14:50 (AEST), Boulevard Auditorium
Werner will unpack modern, secure multi-tenancy approaches that let you safely share bare-metal HPC and AI clusters—without the overheads of virtualisation. Expect actionable guidance for achieving strong isolation and utilisation while keeping complexity in check.

Solutions Architect
“Modern Storage for Modern HPC and AI Environments” by Ben Trinder
Tuesday, 21 Oct, 14:50–15:10 (AEST), Boulevard Auditorium
Ben will dive into storage architectures for today’s accelerated research: performance tiers, data flows for AI/ML, reliability patterns, and cost-aware design choices that scale from departmental clusters to national facilities.
“Mastering the Maze: Simplifying HPC, Kubernetes, and Secure Software Delivery with DevOps, GitOps, and Platform Engineering” by Malcom Haak
Tuesday, 21 Oct, 15:10 – 15:30 (AEST), Boulevard Auditorium
Malcom demonstrates how DevOps, GitOps, and Platform Engineering principles can transform complex research infrastructure into manageable, automated systems that deliver secure, resilient, and auditable HPC and Kubernetes environments.
Join our Birds of a Feather
BoF: Storage and Data Protection Solutions for Long Term Archiving
Dr Werner Scholz (XENON), Bruce Gilpin (Versity), Andrew Beattie (IBM), Matt Starr/Mike Cocks (Spectra Logic), Chris Schlipalius (Pawsey), Jason Lohrey (Arcitecta)
Wednesday, 22 Oct, 11:40–12:40 (AEST), Boulevard B3
Organisations not only generate, process, and store more and more data, they also need to manage, protect and archive it for the long term while keeping it accessible for fast retrieval when reprocessing of the data is required. This is becoming even more important as Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions rely on access to large amounts of data to train, fine-tune, and augment the underlying deep neural networks. As a result, IT teams are under increasing pressure to design and implement architectures, which can meet the requirements of these new applications, maintain them, and provide migration strategies which ensure the long-term protection and availability of the data.
Join this BoF session, to hear from data storage specialists, solution providers, integrators, and customers the latest architectures and solutions, challenges and pitfalls, and real-world experiences. We will cover different archiving paradigms (implicit vs. explicit archiving), protocols (S3, NFS, proprietary), storage technologies (SSD/disk/tape and emerging technologies), and storage formats.
You will leave this BoF with the insights needed to start developing your own long term archiving strategy and you will have met some of the foremost experts in the field, who can help refine and implement your strategy.
